Maury Bowen is a partner in the firm, practicing in the areas of employment, labor, corporate, transactional and business law. She graduated from University of the South, Sewanee and the University of Georgia School of Law. Maury came to the firm after serving as Assistant General Counsel for a major sugar company. She has also practiced law in the areas of general defense litigation, and has served in a judicial clerkship.
In her corporate and transactional practice, Maury provides general representation to small and large corporate clients by setting up corporate entities, drafting contracts, creating company policies and procedures, handling small and large asset sales and acquisitions, conducting due diligence, implementing plant closures and drafting severance agreements.
In connection with representing her corporate clients, Maury handles business arbitrations, as well as labor arbitrations. She has defended all manner of employment-related disputes, including charges filed with both the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). In addition, she has defended Department of Labor complaints, unemployment appeals, and investigated all manner of employment matters including complaints of harassment, discrimination and retaliation. In addition to her seminar training experience listed below, Maury has extensive experience conducting training to supervisors and employees in the areas of diversity and prevention of harassment, discrimination and retaliation.
In addition to working with a number of charitable organizations, Maury is a member of the Savannah Bar Association executive committee, and is past president of both the Younger Lawyers Division of the Savannah Bar Association (2000-2001), and the Savannah chapter of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. Maury is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia.
